We follow the Alabama Home Inspection Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors’ (InterNACHI) Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. We are also a member of the Certified Commercial Property Inspectors Association (CCPIA) and follow their Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.

Riaan du Plessis, the owner of Home Boss, combines a unique global perspective with top-tier expertise in the home inspection industry. Born and raised in South Africa, Riaan’s journey began with military service before he ventured across Europe, traveling and working in diverse environments.
Riaan’s South African roots instilled in him a deep love for nature and a strong work ethic, both of which fuel his passion for helping clients safeguard their biggest investments. As a Certified Master Inspector, Certified Commercial Property Inspector, and licensed Florida home inspector, Riaan has achieved the industry’s highest qualifications. He’s also an active member of the International Association of Certified Indoor Consultants (IAC2), specializing in indoor air quality and environmental testing.

Chuck Beckum resides in South Baldwin County, and brings a wealth of expertise to the home inspection industry. A retired home builder and airline captain, Chuck has built over 600 homes since 1979, giving him an unparalleled understanding of how homes should be constructed and maintained.
As a Certified Master Inspector designated by InterNACHI, Chuck has conducted over 2,000 home inspections, earning a reputation for thoroughness, precision, and professionalism. Licensed and certified, he is dedicated to providing clients with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their homes.
When he’s not inspecting homes, Chuck enjoys flying airplanes, playing golf, and spending time with his six granddaughters and two grandsons. His commitment to excellence extends beyond his professional life, ensuring that every inspection reflects his high standards and years of experience.

Brandon Straub, CPI

Brandon was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, and attended St. Pius X School and McGill-Toolen High School. A proud parent, Brandon has a daughter currently in 7th grade at St. Paul’s Episcopal and a son who graduated from McGill-Toolen. With a strong background in construction and industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience to every inspection. Working with Home Boss as a Certified Professional Inspector, Brandon is dedicated to providing thorough, high-quality inspections to help clients make informed decisions with confidence.

Dave Betler, CPI

Dave brings a wealth of experience from multiple facets of the housing industry, including mortgage origination, real estate sales, and managing nonprofit homeownership centers in Mobile, AL, and Upstate New York. His diverse background gives him a unique perspective and deep understanding of homes, from construction to ownership.
In addition to being a Certified Professional Inspector, Dave has hands-on experience in new home construction and advanced training in building science, enabling him to provide thorough and insightful inspections.
Since 2006, Dave and his family have called Southwest Alabama home, where they enjoy the region’s rich culture and warm community. Dedicated to delivering detailed, high-quality inspections, Dave is passionate about helping clients make informed decisions about their homes.

David was born and raised in Indiana. After graduating high school, he relocated to Baldwin County in 2009 and has proudly called it home ever since. With over 14 years of experience in various construction fields, he has developed a deep understanding of homes from the ground up.
David decided to channel hisexpertise into home inspections to help homeowners and buyers make confident, informed decisions. As a licensed and certified inspector, he is dedicated to delivering thorough, high-quality inspections with meticulous attention to detail.
