Home inspection is our field of expertise, and we combine quality hard work and integrity to earn our client’s trust.
We follow the Alabama Home Inspection Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors’ (InterNACHI) Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. We are also a member of the Certified Commercial Property Inspectors Association (CCPIA) and follow their Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
Riaan du Plessis Owner & Certified Master Inspector

Riaan du Plessis was born and raised in South Africa. Straight out of high school, he completed his Military Service, followed by a stint traveling and working through Europe. He eventually met his wife Courtney while working on a cruise ship and decided to follow her to Alabama and call it home. Growing up in Africa, he developed a love and passion for wildlife and nature which he carries with him always. He is Certified Master Inspector, Certified Commercial Property Inspector, a member of International Association of Certified Indoor Consultants (IAC2) and he is licensed to inspect homes in Florida. Says Riaan, " Its an honor and a privilege to work as a home inspector, but the biggest honor is when a client selects Home Boss to perform their inspection."

Chuck Beckum, CPI & Fortified Evaluater

My name is Chuck Beckum and I live in South Baldwin County Alabama. I’m a retired Home Builder and Airline Captain. I have built over 600 homes since 1979 and have an in depth knowledge of how a home should be built. I am a Certified Master Inspector as designated by InterNACHI, with over 2000 home inspections. Licensed and certified home inspector.
I enjoy flying airplanes, playing golf, and giving my undivided attention to six granddaughters and two grandsons.

Brandon Straub, CPI

I was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama and attended St. Pius X School and McGill-Toolen High School. I have a daughter currently in 7th grade at St. Paul’s Episcopal and a son who graduated from McGill-Toolen. With a background in construction and industry, I’ve recently obtained my certified inspector’s license and am thrilled to embark on this new journey.

Dave Betler, CPI

Dave has extensive experience in several facets of the housing sector from mortgage origination and real estate sales to managing nonprofit homeownership centers in Mobile, AL and Upstate New York. In addition to being a Certified Professional Inspector, Dave has also worked in new home construction and has additional training in building science. Dave and his family have made Southwest Alabama home since 2006 and enjoy the people and places of the region.

My name is David McKim, I was born and raised in Indiana. I moved to Baldwin County in 2009 after high school. I’ve been involved in various construction fields for about 14 years. I made the decision to put all the knowledge I acquired in the construction field to good use, by making the shift into home inspections. As a licensed and certified inspector, I take tremendous pride in quality work and being thorough. I look forward to gaining experience and expanding my knowledge to bring the highest standard of home inspections.
